Because I’m a professionally qualified writer – sounds a bit fancy maybe – but one of the things that separates me from the other writers in town is my bachelor’s degree in Communication & Writing.
The years spent studying the art of communication armed me with wordsmith and interpersonal skills that have seen me writing content over the past 15 years for small business owners, creatives, corporates, start-ups and entrepreneurs.
As a content writer my skill set includes copywriting, SEO & Voice of Customer research.
I create original copy that helps generate new leads, grows your business and speaks to the right customer. All with a minimum of fuss.
My super special skill is the ability to synthesise information – seeing not only the big picture but being able to drill down to the essential core message.

Born and raised in Melbourne, I attended Tintern, Woodleigh and St Paul’s College then Monash University.
At Monash I studied Communication (Mass Communication & Media Theory), majoring in Writing with a focus on fiction and research/report writing. I minored in Sociology which I found fascinating, it taught me a lot about humans and how we interact with our environment – which is very useful when it comes to understanding what drives an audience.
I did pretty well at Uni and managed to snag High Distinctions for both my major and minor focus areas.
Executive Assistant career
In addition to being a content writer, I have also had a career as an Executive Assistant.
In this fast-paced and high-pressure role, I have supported executives in 4 of Australia’s largest private companies.
I have insight into the corporate world across multiple industries including construction & engineering, manufacturing, utilities, environmental services, safety and human resources.
I have helped global executives plan every aspect of their busy day.
I have helped executive teams achieve targets and deliver to deadline.
Being an EA requires a broad skill-set that covers communication, finance, HR, safety, culture & strategy.
It’s a role I really enjoyed and I’m proud of the projects that my colleagues and I delivered.

Why am I a writer?
They say writers write because they can’t help but write.
They also say that we choose to write because we know it is hard.
There is a perverse joy in the act of writing that writers are addicted to.
An addiction to the exquisite agony of trying to find that exact perfect word or sentence structure…
I love the craft of writing
My love of writing and books has been with me since I was a child. I’ve always been a bookworm and a writer.
My favourite authors – I’ll limit it to three – are Doris Lessing, George Orwell and Albert Camus.
My love of reading and researching comes from being naturally curious about the world,
which I hope will forever lead me to many varied subjects and interesting topics to explore.

My favourite place to work
The La Trobe Reading Room at the State Library of Victoria, also known as the Domed reading room is a sacred space to work in.
This Edwardian octagonal reading room with radiating reading desks is six storeys high and houses 32,000 books.
The 320 desks have been a refuge to dreamers, writers, thinkers and readers for over 100 years.
It is a quiet area to work in and features beautiful green glass lampshades and original wooden desks.
This space is free to visit so you can come in to have a look around and soak up the unique atmosphere.
There are really interesting exhibitions on the upper floors of the reading room, it’s also worth going up a few levels to take in the full view of this spectacular room.

I’m organised, efficient and clear which removes the stress of creating and finalising your content.
I am responsive and happy to have regular discussions.
From my career as an Executive Assistant I have a track record of ethical conduct – I am trustworthy and I assure confidentiality.
I work in Word and you will receive your content in unlocked .docx format.
I spend time researching your industry, keywords & competitors. I read your existing content and business collateral.
When I write your content I check-in with you pretty early on to see if I’ve got the tone/approach right.
Once we’ve fine-tuned the approach, voice & style I’ll then continue creating the rest of the content.
If it is website content I’ll put it into a deck – this makes it easy for us when it comes to amendments, it also makes the formatting instructions clear for you or your website designer when you go to put the words into your website.
There are two options for how we do the content reviews – depending upon your preference – we can do the edits and markups using the ‘track changes’ and ‘comment’ features inside the Word program, or if you prefer, you can use my review document that I’ve created so that my clients have a clear structure that makes it easier to provide feedback.
It’s important for me to point out that there will be your own time required to review the content at each draft stage.
This is something we factor into the milestones/deadline and something I have processes set up for and will support you with – I’ll be available for discussions/Zoom calls and to help with amends – but it is worth planning ahead to ensure you have time put aside to review content. Although it’s not a particularly onerous task, if there is a delay in the review process this may impact the original project timeline. Upon approval of the final draft, the content then will be proofread.
